MAPL brings together the talents of five musicians who share a love of improvisation and great songwriting. The group tackles the great Canadian songbook and reworks some classic Canadian songs and also performs original songs and instrumental compositions. The result is a musically sophisticated, but highly accessible hybrid of jazz and pop that has been pleasing audiences in the Calgary area since 2010.
The group’s debut recording, Canadian Songbook, has been featured on CBC, CKUA and on radio stations across the country.
MAPL is Nynne Collins (vocals), Andrea Petrity (piano), Frank Rackow (sax, clarinet), Stefano Valdo (bass) and Robin Tufts (drums and percussion).
